Membership Fees

Annual Membership fees are for the Society’s “working year” which begins at the adjournment of the Annual General Meeting (AGM) and ends at the adjournment of the next AGM. The Annual General Meeting is usually held each October or November.

Membership fees shall be paid annually, or alternatively earned through voluntary work for the Society in the case of Adult, Family and Youth memberships.

The following membership classifications and related annual fees were adopted by the membership at its 2013 Annual General Meeting:

Adult Membership:                             $ 10.00 or a minimum of 10 volunteer hours contributed during the year.

Family Membership:                            $ 15.00 or a minimum of 15 volunteer hours contributed during the year.

Youth Membership:                             $   5.00 or a minimum of 5 volunteer hours contributed during the year.

Non-profit Organization Membership:    $ 25.00

Small Business Membership:                 $ 45.00

Corporate Membership:                        $100.00

Members of the Board shall not earn voluntary work credits while serving as directors.

Definitions re Membership Classifications

Adult Membership is for a single adult over the age of 18.

Family Membership includes a single parent or 2 co-habiting adults and as applicable, the family’s children age 18 or under.  A Family Membership entitles the family to 2 votes for co-habiting adults or 1 vote for a single-parent family.

Youth Membership is defined as an independent membership by a person age 18 or under.

Non-profit Organization Membership is for a non-profit society, First Nation or municipal government operating within, or with direct interests in, the Slocan Lake watershed.

Small Business Membership is for a business operating within the Slocan Lake watershed that has up to 10 employees.

Corporate Membership is for a business operating within the Slocan Lake watershed that has more than 10 employees.

Honorary Membership is for an individual deemed to be deserving and appointed by the members at a General Meeting. An Honorary Member shall be considered a member in good standing on a continuing basis.

Lifetime Membership is an automatic prepaid membership for life as a result of making a financial donation to the Society of at least three hundred dollars ($300.00) in the case of an individual and five hundred dollars ($500.00) in the case of a family.
